Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how you can control it.
Last updated: 21 October 2026
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and membership, and nothing we don’t need.
- Joining a Christian service can reveal your religious beliefs. We treat that as sensitive and ask for your clear consent.
- We never sell your personal information or use it for advertising profiles.
- Member update emails, analytics cookies, email tracking and browser notifications are all off unless you turn them on — and you can turn them off at any time.
- Your Biblical Companion conversations happen in your own ChatGPT account. We cannot see them.
- You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information by emailing support@biblically-live-now-well.com.

We do not knowingly collect information about health, sexual life, criminal records or other special categories, apart from what joining a Christian service may reveal about your religious beliefs (see the next section).
Religious belief: sensitive information
Data-protection laws treat information that reveals religious or philosophical beliefs as a special category that needs extra protection (for example UK and EU GDPR Article 9, and South Africa’s POPIA). Being a member of a Biblical service may reveal that you hold, or are exploring, Christian beliefs.
We therefore ask for your explicit consent when you join, keep this information to what the service needs, never use it for advertising, and protect it with strict access controls. You can withdraw your consent at any time by closing your account; that stops future use but does not affect what was lawful before.
Why we use your information
Purpose | Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR) |
|---|---|
Creating and securing your account, providing the membership you paid for, taking payments, sending service messages (receipts, renewal reminders, password resets) | Performance of our contract with you |
Handling information that may reveal religious belief | Your explicit consent |
Keeping the service safe, preventing fraud and abuse, fixing faults | Our legitimate interests |
Improving the website using privacy-friendly, cookieless statistics (Umami) | Our legitimate interests |
Google Analytics cookies, marketing emails, email open/click tracking, browser notifications, personalised recommendations | Your consent — off until you turn it on |
Invite-a-friend rewards and gift memberships | Performance of our contract with you |
Knowing which campaigns and codes lead to new members, and which links in marketing emails are clicked | Our legitimate interests (you can object at any time, and unsubscribing stops click records) |
Keeping tax and accounting records | Legal obligation |
Answering your questions and privacy requests | Contract, legal obligation or legitimate interests, depending on the request |
Emails, notifications and your choices
Service emails
We send emails you need to use the service — confirming your email address, receipts, renewal reminders, payment problems and security alerts. These are not marketing and are part of the membership.
Marketing emails: only if you say yes
If you tick the box when you join, or turn it on in your account, we may email you about offers, seasons such as Easter and Christmas, and new content. Each topic can be switched on or off separately, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link that we act on within two working days. We never send marketing emails to members under 18. Marketing emails are sent for us by Resend.
What we measure in emails
We do not use hidden images to track whether you open an email. In marketing emails we record which links are clicked, so we know what is useful. Links carry campaign tags (UTM) so we can see which campaigns bring people to the website. Service emails (receipts, password resets and similar) are never tracked.
Browser notifications
If you allow it, we can send notifications to your browser for the topics you choose — for example live sessions, new audiobooks or news. Your browser asks for permission first. You can change topics or turn notifications off at any time in your account or your browser settings, and we stop sending straight away.
The Biblical Companion and ChatGPT
The Biblical Companion runs inside ChatGPT, which is provided by OpenAI. Your conversations take place in your own ChatGPT account and are stored by OpenAI under OpenAI’s privacy policy. We cannot see, store or analyse them, and our website analytics never collect them.
If you choose to connect ChatGPT to your membership, ChatGPT sends our website only what each request needs (for example, which prompt to fetch) and we tell ChatGPT whether your membership is active. You can disconnect at any time in Account → Connected apps. See also our AI & Companion Disclosure.
Children and young people
The service is for adults aged 18 and over. Young people aged 16 or 17 may join only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who we contact to confirm.
For members under 18, marketing emails, email tracking and personalised recommendations are switched off and cannot be switched on, and we use the most protective settings throughout. We do not knowingly accept anyone under 16. If you think a child under 16 has given us information, contact support@biblically-live-now-well.com and we will delete it.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the service, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:
Provider | What for |
|---|---|
Stripe | Payments, receipts and tax calculation |
Oracle Cloud | Hosting our servers, database and files; sending emails |
Cloudflare | Security, protection from attacks and faster delivery of the website |
Sign-in with Google (if you use it); Google Analytics (only with your consent); Search Console (website data, not personal profiles) | |
OpenAI | Runs ChatGPT and the Companion inside it, when you use it |
Resend | Sending marketing emails, only if you agreed to receive them, and handling unsubscribes |
Our own self-hosted tools | Umami statistics, Mailcow mailboxes and File Browser storage run on our own servers — no third party receives your data from them |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the service (you would be told). We do not sell personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in US state privacy laws.
International transfers
Some providers process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on adequacy decisions or approved safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and we check that providers protect your information to the standard of this policy.
How long we keep information
Information | How long |
|---|---|
Account, profile and progress | While your account is open. Deleted within 30 days of closing your account, except where listed below |
Payment and tax records | Up to 7 years, because tax law requires it |
Contact and support messages | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
Marketing consent records | While you are subscribed, then 2 years so we can show when consent was given or withdrawn |
Email delivery logs | Up to 12 months |
Security logs | Up to 12 months |
Browser notification tokens | Until you turn notifications off or the token stops working |
Website statistics | Umami keeps no personal profiles; Google Analytics data (with consent) up to 14 months |
How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, two-factor sign-in for staff, role-based access so staff only see what their job needs, private storage for member files, regular backups and security updates. If a personal-data breach is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and, where required, the regulator within 72 hours.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your information and receive it in a portable format;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information deleted;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect earlier lawful use);
- not be treated unfairly for using your rights;
- opt out of any sale or targeted advertising — we do neither.
To use your rights, email support@biblically-live-now-well.com. We may need to confirm your identity. We reply within one month (or sooner where local law requires). Many choices — email preferences, notifications, connected apps and appearance — can also be changed directly in your account.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can put things right. You can also complain to your data-protection regulator, for example:
- United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk)
- European Union: your national data-protection authority
- South Africa: the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za)
- Australia: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au)
- United States: your state attorney general
- United Arab Emirates: the UAE Data Office
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to change your choice.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and show the new date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
